description

Linux netfilter conntrack can apply a short closing timeout to an established TCP flow after receiving a reset packet that conntrack does not accept as closing the connection. An attacker able to inject suitable reset traffic into a targeted established flow may cause its conntrack entry to expire prematurely while both endpoints remain connected.

Still under analysis: more detail becomes available as the pipeline runs.

mitigation

Update Linux to version 6.18.61 or to a supported release containing one of the listed fixes. Until updated, reduce exposure to untrusted traffic that can inject TCP packets into established connections.
