description

Linux kernels using ksmbd are affected by a connection-lifetime flaw involving session channels. Concurrent SMB session or channel activity can cause code to access a connection after it has been freed; exposure requires ksmbd to be enabled and handling relevant SMB activity.

mitigation

Update to Linux kernel 7.3, or deploy a maintained kernel build containing the applicable fixes 4b333aed69cfc2c8687b86b6a4364a0dffc16dd8 or add8d7fb04efe564193df73581889c62fc0016f1. Disable ksmbd where it is not required until the update can be applied.
