description

Traefik v3.7.0 through v3.7.13 can associate an Ingress with another Ingress's client-certificate trust policy when referenced Secret names collide after dot-to-dash normalization. This can allow certificates trusted for one host to satisfy client authentication on another host, while rejecting that host's intended clients; it requires colliding Secret references used with the auth-tls-secret annotation.

mitigation

Upgrade Traefik to v3.7.14. Until upgraded, avoid auth-tls-secret Secret namespace and name combinations that become identical after replacing dots with dashes, and review affected Ingresses for collisions.

fixed in v3.7.14

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
