ETK-2026-707Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
waiting for further signalsZero needs more public information before it can validate it.description
OpenEXR versions through 3.1.5 mishandle scanline sizing while decoding certain EXR files. An attacker who can supply an EXR image to an application can cause the decoding process to be terminated through excessive memory allocation. Exposure requires processing untrusted EXR input, directly or through software that uses OpenEXR.
mitigation
Upgrade OpenEXR to version 3.1.6 or later. Until upgraded, do not process untrusted EXR files and isolate image-decoding workloads with resource limits.
fixed in 3.1.6
outcome
Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
