description

libheif versions before 1.23.6 can mishandle memory accounting while decoding certain compressed uncompressed-codec HEIF images. An attacker able to supply a crafted image may cause excessive memory consumption and repeated processing, potentially disrupting the decoding process. Exposure requires a build with WITH_UNCOMPRESSED_CODEC enabled and the relevant compression support configured.

mitigation

Upgrade libheif to version 1.23.6 or later. If an upgrade cannot be applied promptly, rebuild or configure libheif with WITH_UNCOMPRESSED_CODEC disabled to reduce exposure.

fixed in 1.23.6
