description

Fedify document loading can repeatedly follow a cycle of remote alternate documents without retaining redirect limits. An attacker controlling a remote document may cause excessive outbound HTTP requests and DNS lookups when an application processes an inbound signed request.

mitigation

Upgrade @fedify/vocab-runtime to 2.0.29, 2.1.25, 2.2.14, 2.3.9; @fedify/fedify to 2.0.29, 2.1.25, 2.2.14, 2.3.9; @fedify/fedify-runtime to 2.0.29, 2.1.25, 2.2.14, 2.3.9; @fedify/fedify to 2.0.29, 2.1.25, 2.2.14, 2.3.9 or later.

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
