ETK-2026-3871Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.description
The Rust zip crate's ZipStreamReader extraction can write files before header-consistency validation rejects a malformed ZIP archive. An attacker who can supply an archive may create or overwrite files in the extraction destination when the application extracts it with enforce_header_consistency(true).
mitigation
Update the Rust zip crate to version 9.1.0. Until updated, do not extract untrusted archives with ZipStreamReader into directories containing files that must not be modified.
fixed in 9.1.0
outcome
Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
