description

LXD image import handling can follow a top-level templates symlink in a crafted container image. An attacker able to import such an image may read or modify arbitrary host files, potentially leading to command execution. Exploitation requires the ability to import a malicious container image.

mitigation

Upgrade github.com/canonical/lxd to version 0.0.0-20260203144152-d1c8ba15d160 or later. Until upgraded, restrict image-import permissions to trusted administrators and avoid importing untrusted images.
