description

Affected Action Pack versions can pass unpermitted request attributes to mass-assignment APIs when an application uses the return value of block-form each_key. A remote unauthenticated attacker may set attributes the application intended to restrict, but only if the application follows that usage pattern.

mitigation

Upgrade Action Pack 8.0 deployments to 8.0.5.2 or later and 8.1 deployments to 8.1.4.1 or later. Until upgraded, do not use the return value of each_key; pass the permitted parameters object to mass-assignment operations.

fixed in 8.1.4.1, 8.0.5.2
