description

SurrealDB versions with affected reference-on-delete handling can skip target-table permission checks during CASCADE, UNSET, or CUSTOM actions. An authenticated user allowed to delete a referenced record may thereby cause unauthorized changes, deletions, or configured expression execution on referencing records when the relevant reference action is configured.

mitigation

Upgrade the surrealdb package to version 4.0.0. Until upgrading, restrict delete permissions on referenced tables and avoid affected REFERENCE ON DELETE actions where practical.

fixed in 4.0.0
