description

OpenEXRCore's C API can retain a stale channel-attribute reference after copying an EXR header. An attacker-controlled EXR may cause memory-unsafe behavior or a crash when an application copies untrusted header attributes into an output file and then writes or changes that header. The documented trigger does not apply when the output context has long channel-name support enabled before the copy.

mitigation

Upgrade OpenEXR to 3.3.15, 3.4.17, 3.5.3 or later.

fixed in 3.3.15, 3.4.17, 3.5.3
