description

turbohtml versions before 1.13.1 can consume excessive CPU while evaluating regular expressions through XPath or XSLT processing. An attacker who can influence an XPath expression, stylesheet, or pattern may cause processing to stall; applications using vulnerable fixed patterns may also be affected when attackers control the searched text.

mitigation

Upgrade turbohtml to version 1.13.1 or later. Until upgraded, do not evaluate untrusted XPath expressions, stylesheets, or regular-expression patterns, and restrict attacker-controlled input processed by risky patterns.

fixed in 1.13.1

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
