ETK-2026-3028Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.description
Incus incusd before v7.6.0 does not adequately validate dependent-volume metadata exchanged during instance migration. A malicious migration peer can manipulate volume placement, bypass project storage-pool restrictions, or crash the daemon; on dir storage pools, a malicious source can cause attacker-controlled content to be created at host paths. Exploitation requires a migration involving an untrusted peer.
mitigation
Upgrade github.com/lxc/incus/v7/cmd/incusd to >= v7.6.0 or later.
fixed in >= v7.6.0
outcome
Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
