ETK-2026-2889Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.description
Rust zip versions before 9.0.3 can incorrectly validate ZIP archives when applications use ZipArchive::has_overlapping_files(). An attacker who supplies a crafted archive may bypass overlap checks or cause excessive processing; the application must process the archive and rely on this API for validation.
mitigation
Upgrade the Rust zip package to version 9.0.3 or later. Until upgraded, avoid treating ZipArchive::has_overlapping_files() as the sole validation control for untrusted ZIP archives.
fixed in 9.0.3
outcome
Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
