description

GitPython is affected by inefficient parsing of malformed author, committer, or tagger metadata in repository objects. An attacker who can provide an untrusted repository may cause CPU exhaustion when an application reads the affected commit or tag fields.

mitigation

Upgrade GitPython to version 3.2.0. Until upgraded, avoid processing untrusted repositories or restrict access to their commit and tag metadata.

fixed in 3.2.0
