ETK-2026-2726Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
waiting for further signalsZero needs more public information before it can validate it.description
node-forge versions before 1.4.1 can consume excessive CPU and memory while parsing crafted DER or PEM input through ASN.1-related APIs. An unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service if they can provide data that the application parses as a certificate, key, PKCS structure, or other ASN.1 input.
mitigation
Upgrade node-forge to version 1.4.1. For applications that call forge.asn1.fromDer() directly and do not require decoded BIT STRING contents, set decodeBitStrings to false to reduce exposure until upgrading.
fixed in 1.4.1
outcome
Contextual, not validated: no deterministic check could cover this one, and no technique passed our review.
