description

libheif 1.21.0 through 1.23.6 can spend excessive CPU time while decoding crafted HEIF image sequences. An attacker who can supply a sequence to an application using sequence decoding may exhaust decoder or worker CPU resources, even when the application only requests an initial frame.

mitigation

Upgrade libheif to version 1.23.7 or later. Until upgrading, avoid processing untrusted HEIF image sequences through the sequence-decoding interface.

fixed in 1.23.7
