ETK-2026-2426Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.description
github.com/coregx/gxpdf before 0.9.9 can panic when opening a PDF with malformed cross-reference stream fields. An attacker who can supply a PDF to an application using the library may terminate the affected process, particularly where parsing is not protected by panic recovery.
mitigation
Upgrade github.com/coregx/gxpdf to version 0.9.9. Until upgraded, isolate parsing of untrusted PDFs in a separate process or recover from panics around document-opening calls.
fixed in 0.9.9
outcome
Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
