description

esaml versions beginning with 0.1.0 can allocate unreclaimable Erlang atoms while parsing SAML responses. An unauthenticated attacker may crash a node if its SAML ACS or single-logout endpoint accepts requests that reach the affected parser before signature validation.

mitigation

Upgrade arekinath/esaml, handnot2/esaml, esaml, or dropbox/esaml to the recorded fixed version *, as applicable. Restrict access to SAML ACS and single-logout endpoints to trusted identity providers until the upgrade is complete.

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
