description

NTPsec ntpd versions 1.1.4 through 1.2.5 mishandle nonce lengths while parsing NTS AEEF extension fields. A remote attacker can crash the daemon if it can send traffic that is processed as an NTS extension field.

Still under analysis: more detail becomes available as the pipeline runs.

mitigation

Upgrade ntpsec to version 1.2.6 or later. Restrict untrusted network access to ntpd until the update is deployed.

fixed in 1.2.6
