description

Wasmtime using its default Cranelift compiler backend is affected by an SSA value-index overflow that can cause incorrect compilation. An attacker able to have a specially constructed, very large WebAssembly module compiled may cause type confusion or other effects that escape the Wasm sandbox.

mitigation

Upgrade the rust wasmtime package to version 36.0.19 or later.

fixed in 36.0.19

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
