description

Next.js applications using the App Router and at least one Server Action are affected. An attacker can send crafted requests that consume excessive CPU and prevent the affected process from handling further requests; applications using the Pages Router or no Server Actions are not affected.

mitigation

Upgrade the next package to 15.5.28 or 16.4.1. Prioritize upgrades for applications that use App Router Server Actions.

fixed in 15.5.28, 16.4.1

outcome

Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
