description

adm-zip 0.6.0 can fail to enforce its decompression output limit for ZIP entries that report a zero uncompressed size. An attacker who can supply an archive for application processing may cause excessive memory allocation and disrupt the process.

mitigation

Upgrade adm-zip to version 0.6.1. Until upgraded, do not process untrusted ZIP archives with affected versions and enforce archive-size or extraction limits outside the package.

fixed in 0.6.1

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
