description

Affected @nestjs/platform-fastify releases can dispatch a request to a route without running Nest middleware configured for that path when the request uses an absolute-form target. An attacker able to control the raw HTTP request line may bypass middleware-enforced authentication or authorization, or avoid other middleware controls, in applications that use path-scoped middleware.

mitigation

Upgrade @nestjs/platform-fastify to 12.0.2 or later on the 12.x line, or 11.2.4 or later on the 11.x line; 12.0.3 and 11.2.5 are recommended. Until upgraded, configure the application edge or Fastify instance to reject or normalize absolute-form request targets before middleware executes.

fixed in 11.2.4, 12.0.2

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
