description

Linux kernel systems using the ksmbd SMB server are affected by an out-of-bounds write in stream-information response handling. An attacker able to send requests that reach the affected ksmbd path may cause a write beyond a small response buffer. Exposure depends on ksmbd being enabled and reachable.

mitigation

Update the Linux kernel to 6.18.61, 7.3.2, or a release containing one of the listed fixes. Disable ksmbd or restrict SMB access to trusted networks until updates are deployed.
