description

Linux kernel systems using ksmbd can disclose residual response-buffer data when processing FS_POSIX_INFORMATION in a compound SMB request. An SMB client able to make such requests may receive data left from an earlier response; the evidence does not establish an authentication requirement.

mitigation

Update to a Linux kernel release containing commit beba2ef6f66a71f20531ac70a1acb0b221e362e9, ab057f271ef60ff8163818badc3de75c480eca07, or db2267b27c054a6c2151ff7fbb67927e784f31d6. Disable ksmbd or restrict SMB access to trusted clients until the updated kernel is deployed.
