description

Linux kernels with the affected MPTCP option handling can construct a no-data DATA_FIN using uninitialized checksum state. A remote peer able to reach this MPTCP connection state may trigger the flawed path when checksum negotiation is active; the evidence does not specify the resulting security impact.

mitigation

Upgrade to a Linux kernel release containing the applicable fix commit 9a682067dd7b9dce6b94a0a05661dcc921446402 or b110f1dd6cb6a9930503354a01a315e0a821eaa7. Disable MPTCP where it is not required until updated.

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
