description

Microsoft SQL Server 2017 (GDR) is affected by a stack-based buffer overflow. An attacker with authorized access may be able to elevate privileges over the network; they must already hold valid authorization to reach the affected service.

mitigation

Apply the applicable Microsoft SQL Server 2017 security update according to vendor guidance when available for the deployed build. Restrict SQL Server network access to trusted hosts and authorized accounts until patching is complete.

fixed in 14.0.2140.2, 14.0.3560.2, 15.0.2200.2, 15.0.4500.2, 16.0.1210.3, 16.0.4305.5, 17.0.5015.4, 17.0.1145.4
