description

Affected BIND 9 resolvers can stop serving DNS after an assertion failure when redirect-zone processing occurs. An unauthenticated remote party may cause a denial of service if the resolver has both a redirect zone and strict QNAME minimization enabled.

mitigation

Disable strict QNAME minimization or remove the redirect zone where operationally feasible. Track the vendor's update guidance before re-enabling both settings, as no fixed version is recorded in the supplied advisory data.
