description

Arcane backend versions through 2.5.0 do not restrict password changes by users:update holders based on the target account's privilege level. A delegated user-management account can change the global administrator's password and then access that administrator account. Exploitation requires an authenticated account that has been granted the users:update permission.

mitigation

Upgrade github.com/getarcaneapp/arcane/backend/v2 to version 2.6.0 or later. Until upgraded, revoke users:update from non-administrative roles and review accounts holding that permission.

fixed in 2.6.0
