description

jackson-databind can retain an unbounded number of deserializer-cache entries when name-based polymorphism is configured with a fallback implementation. An attacker able to submit distinct unrecognized type identifiers may increase memory use and cause availability loss if the application reuses a long-lived mapper or deserializer across requests.

mitigation

Upgrade com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind to 2.18.11, 2.21.7, or 2.22.3, or tools.jackson.core:jackson-databind to 3.1.7 or 3.2.3, as appropriate for the deployed release line. Until upgraded, avoid fallback-enabled name-based polymorphism for attacker-controlled input and restrict untrusted type identifiers.

fixed in 2.18.11, 2.21.7, 2.22.3, 3.1.7, 3.2.3
