description

esaml 0.1.0 and later can exhaust the Erlang VM atom table while processing logout responses. An unauthenticated remote attacker may crash a node if they can send unsigned requests to a reachable single-logout endpoint.

mitigation

Disable public access to the single-logout endpoint, or restrict it to trusted identity-provider sources, until an upstream fixed release is identified. Reject unsigned logout responses at an enforcing proxy or application boundary where possible.

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
