description

MarkLogic Server 12.x before 12.1.0 and 11.x before 11.3.7 can permit backup or restore actions against forests outside a delegated administrator's authorized database scope. An attacker with delegated database-administrator access could use this to read or alter security-sensitive data beyond their intended boundary.

mitigation

Upgrade MarkLogic Server 12.x to 12.1.0 or later, or 11.x to 11.3.7 or later. Until upgrades are complete, restrict and review delegated database-administrator privileges.

fixed in 11.3.7, 12.1.0

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
