description

Apache James Server releases before 3.9.1 use a Mime4J version affected by unbounded resource allocation during MIME message parsing. An attacker may cause a denial of service when the server parses a MIME message. The issue requires the affected MIME parsing path to process attacker-supplied or otherwise untrusted messages.

mitigation

Upgrade Apache James Server to version 3.9.1, which uses the fixed Mime4J 0.8.15 release. Until upgraded, reduce exposure by limiting processing of untrusted MIME messages where operationally feasible.

fixed in 3.9.1
