description

Apache Camel camel-hazelcast versions 4.0.0 through 4.18.4 and 4.19.0 through 4.22.0 can create Hazelcast instances without deserialization class restrictions in certain Camel-managed configurations. An attacker able to publish data to the connected Hazelcast cluster could cause unsafe Java deserialization and potentially execute code in the Camel process.

mitigation

Upgrade camel-hazelcast to 4.18.5 or 4.22.1, as appropriate for the maintained release line; move end-of-life deployments to a supported release. Until upgrading, provide a Hazelcast configuration with a Java serialization filter or inject a preconfigured Hazelcast instance, and require cluster authentication and TLS.

fixed in 4.18.5, 4.22.1

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
