description

Splunk Enterprise releases before 10.4.4, 10.2.8, 10.0.11, and 9.4.16 are affected by a denial-of-service flaw in the Splunk Web JavaScript logger endpoint. An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause Splunk Web to stop serving requests; the service remains unavailable until Splunk Enterprise is restarted. Exploitation requires network access to the affected Splunk Web endpoint.

mitigation

Upgrade Splunk Enterprise to 10.4.4, 10.2.8, 10.0.11, or 9.4.16, as appropriate for the deployed release branch. Until upgrading, restrict untrusted network access to Splunk Web.

fixed in 10.4.4, 10.2.8, 10.0.11, 9.4.16

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
