description

NextGEN Gallery for WordPress through 4.4.1 allows authenticated users with custom-level access or higher to execute code on the server. An attacker must own a NextGEN gallery; users previously granted gallery-management access may retain qualifying access after that permission is removed.

mitigation

Remove untrusted users' gallery ownership and disable or remove the plugin where this risk is unacceptable. Review accounts that previously held gallery-management permissions, since revoking that capability alone may not remove their access.

outcome

Upstream: a detection for this already ships elsewhere, so we didn't generate a new one. The credit goes to whoever did.
