description

The Smile parser in jackson-dataformats-binary does not enforce the configured limit for object property-name length. An attacker who can submit Smile data to an application that parses it can exhaust memory and disrupt service, particularly when document-size limits are not configured.

mitigation

Set a finite document-size limit and enforce request or upload size limits before Smile parsing. Do not accept untrusted Smile input where it is not required; the evidence does not identify a fixed release.

outcome

Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
