description

ESPAsyncWebServer versions before 3.11.2 mishandle certain multipart uploads and can dereference a null buffer. A remote unauthenticated attacker may cause an affected ESP32 device to panic and reboot when a reachable route processes request bodies or uploads, such as file-upload or web-OTA endpoints.

mitigation

Upgrade ESPAsyncWebServer to version 3.11.2. Until upgraded, restrict access to routes that accept multipart bodies or uploads, or disable those routes where feasible.

fixed in 3.11.2
