description

Affected Asterisk and Certified Asterisk releases allow some users with read-only ARI access to bypass intended write-operation restrictions through REST-over-WebSocket. An authenticated attacker may load module paths and, in applicable deployments, achieve remote code execution; the HTTP service must be enabled and reachable.

mitigation

Upgrade Asterisk to 20.20.1, 21.12.3, 22.10.1, or 23.4.1, or upgrade Certified Asterisk to 22.8-cert3. Until upgraded, disable or restrict network access to the Asterisk HTTP service and limit read-only ARI credentials.

fixed in 20.20.1, 21.12.3, 22.10.1, 23.4.1, 22.8-cert3
