description

Coraza v3 before 3.8.1 may silently exclude request arguments when argument limits are reached, allowing rules that inspect argument collections to miss attacker-controlled input. URL-encoded POST requests may also exceed the intended argument cap; exposure requires deployments that accept such requests and rely on argument-targeted WAF rules.

mitigation

Upgrade github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v3 to 3.8.1. Until upgraded, reject requests whose GET, POST, or path argument counts reach the configured argument limit, with thresholds matching SecArgumentsLimit.

fixed in 3.8.1

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
