description

ISC BIND 9 resolvers in the listed 9.11, 9.18, 9.20, and 9.21 release ranges are affected. An attacker able to send specially structured inbound DNS messages to a resolver can cause disproportionate CPU and memory use, potentially degrading resolver availability.

mitigation

Restrict inbound DNS traffic to trusted and necessary sources, particularly for resolver-facing interfaces. No fixed version is recorded; monitor ISC BIND updates and upgrade promptly when a corrected release is available.
