description

Babelfish for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL with Babelfish are affected by a heap-based buffer overflow in TDS prelogin handling. An attacker who can reach the TDS port can send a malformed prelogin request that may cause operating-system commands to run as the database process user.

mitigation

Upgrade Babelfish for PostgreSQL to 4.10, 5.6, 6.1, or later. Upgrade Aurora PostgreSQL with Babelfish to the applicable recorded fixed release: 1.5.5, 1.17.2, 2.3.5, 2.12.4, 2.13.3, 2.14.2, 2.15.2, 2.16.1, 3.8.4, 3.9.4, 3.10.3, 3.11.2, 3.12.2, 3.13.1, 4.5.5, 4.6.3, 4.7.2, 4.8.2, 4.9.1, 5.1.4, 5.2.3, 5.3.2, 5.4.2, or 6.0.2; restrict TDS port access to trusted clients until updated.

fixed in 1.5.5, 1.17.2, 2.3.5, 2.12.4, 2.13.3, 2.14.2, 2.15.2, 2.16.1, 3.8.4, 3.9.4, 3.10.3, 3.11.2, 3.12.2, 3.13.1, 4.5.5, 4.6.3, 4.7.2, 4.8.2, 4.9.1, 5.1.4, 5.2.3, 5.3.2, 5.4.2, 6.0.2
