description

node-forge versions before 1.4.1 are affected when an application passes untrusted PEM text to its PEM-parsing APIs. An unauthenticated attacker can cause excessive CPU use and block the Node.js event loop, disrupting requests. Applications that do not accept attacker-controlled PEM input are not exposed through this path.

mitigation

Upgrade node-forge to version 1.4.1 or later. Until upgraded, reject or strictly limit the size of untrusted PEM input before passing it to node-forge.

fixed in 1.4.1
