description

Botan versions from 2.1.0 before 3.13.0 contain a block-size reporting flaw in the C API. An attacker may cause memory corruption when an application accepts external algorithm selections and uses the raw ECB FFI mode with the Lion cipher. The C++ API and standard C API modes including CBC and CTR are not affected.

mitigation

Upgrade Botan to version 3.13.0 or later. Until upgrading, avoid raw ECB FFI use with externally controlled algorithm parameters, particularly Lion.

fixed in 3.13.0
