description

python-markdown2 through version 2.5.5 can consume excessive CPU while parsing specially malformed Markdown inline links. An attacker who can submit Markdown for processing may cause service degradation or denial of service.

mitigation

Do not process untrusted Markdown with affected versions, or enforce strict input-size and processing-time limits around Markdown rendering. Monitor for an upstream fixed release before upgrading.
