description

decode-uri-component versions before 0.5.1 can consume excessive CPU when decoding malformed, percent-encoded untrusted input. An unauthenticated attacker may stall a Node.js application's event loop if the application passes sufficiently large attacker-controlled inputs, such as request bodies, to the package directly or through a dependency.

mitigation

Upgrade decode-uri-component to version 0.5.1 or later. Until upgraded, restrict the size of untrusted inputs sent to URI decoding, especially request bodies.

fixed in 0.5.1
