CVE-2026-118513
waiting for further signalsZero needs more public information before it can validate it.GHSA-5w3m-mfwg-9f8r ↗EUVD-2026-116891 ↗
description
Symfony Security HTTP releases before 5.4.56, 6.4.50, 7.4.23, and 8.1.11 can derive an incorrect user identity from an X.509 certificate subject DN. An attacker with a trusted-CA certificate whose subject they can influence may impersonate another application user, potentially including a privileged account.
mitigation
Upgrade symfony/security-http or symfony/symfony to 5.4.56, 6.4.50, 7.4.23, or 8.1.11, as appropriate. Until upgraded, configure authentication to use a dedicated per-attribute certificate value such as SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email, and ensure the trusted CA does not allow requester-controlled subject values.
fixed in 5.4.56, 6.4.50, 7.4.23, 8.1.11
outcome
Contextual, not validated: no deterministic check could cover this one, and no technique passed our review.
