description

django-rest-framework versions 3.6.4 through 3.18.1 can mishandle a client-provided charset while parsing JSON requests. An unauthenticated remote client may cause high per-worker memory consumption when a reachable endpoint accepts JSON request bodies.

mitigation

Upgrade django-rest-framework to version 3.18.2 or later. Until upgrades are complete, restrict access to JSON-accepting endpoints and apply request filtering at the edge where feasible.

fixed in 3.18.2
