description

Eclipse ioFog Controller versions 3.8.0 through 3.9.1 fail to validate bearer tokens for operator WebSocket exec and log connections. An unauthenticated attacker who knows a target microservice or fog UUID may impersonate an administrative role and access its exec or log session.

mitigation

Restrict network access to the operator WebSocket exec and log endpoints to trusted administrators and networks. Upgrade to a vendor release that corrects JWT validation when one is available.

automationDeterministic: a check that runs on its own, the same request on every target. Contextual: an agentic technique that needs to be applied per target, for bugs that depend on contextual flows.
